Panchaunle worth Rs 80 million seized from Kanchanpur

KANCHANPUR: A huge collection of protected Panchaunle, or the Dactylorhiza hatagirea, was confiscated from near the Matena area of Bhimdutta Municipality in Kanchanpur on Sunday.

A team of Armed Police Force (APF) seized four sacks of the protected herb worth Rs 80 million while being transported to India on a Nepali motorbike (Ma 1 Pa 3436) and a bike with Indian license plate, UA 06 G 2963.

The confiscated herb has been sent to the District Forest Office, Kanchanpur, said Netra KC, APF's Superintendent.

The market price of the seized herb is estimated to be more than Rs 80 million. The sale, distribution or supply of the herb is banned in Nepal.
