Panchthar DAO fails to take action against black marketeers

PHIDIM: The District Administration Office, Panchthar, has failed to take action against black marketeers of petroleum products in the district.

It was stated that the suspects could not be charged because of lack of proofs against them.

A meeting was formed under the Federation of Nepalese Chambers Of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Panchthar chapter to discuss the report submitted by an investigative team on Thursday.

FNCCI Panchthar chapter president Mitra Prasad Kafle stated that promotion of import of goods should be focused rather than taking action against the wrong-doers.

Chief District Officer Purushottam Ghimire said that the suspects were pardoned once only because it was a unanimous decision.

The meeting has, however, reached a decision to make the consumers aware of proper management of petroleum products.

Last week, it was reported that petroleum products are being sold from tea shops and beauty parlours. Market monitoring carried out by an Assistant CDO Keshav Prasad Rijal-led team had found 10 such small shops selling fuel.

At a time when the country is reeling under acute shortage of fuel due to the ongoing Tarai agitation and blockade at Indo-Nepal border points, black marketing of petroleum products has become rampant in Phidim, the district headquarters of Panchthar.
