PANCHTHAR: A man has been arrested on charge of raping his 17-year-old daughter in Chyangthapu of Yangwarak Rural Municipality in Panchthar district.

Inspector Bigyan Basnet at the Panchthar District Police Office said that the 46-year-old man was arrested after the victim filed a complaint on June 5.

The victim had stated that her father had been sexually assaulting her for couple of years. The father and daughter had been living in the house after her mother married another man five years ago, said police.

The victim had not reported about the atrocity due to fear of her father and social stigma but in a latest instance he had attacked her with a sharp weapon, inflicting injury on her head.

Meanwhile, the victim is undergoing treatment at the District Hospital, added Basnet

Police are investigating into the matter.
