Panel fails to resolve Tarun Dal dispute

Kathmandu, August 27

Dispute Resolution Committee formed by the Nepali Congress to settle disputes in Tarun Dal, a youth wing of the ruling party, could not hold its first meeting today due to controversy over the addition of two members in the seven-member committee.

Committee member Ram Krishna Yadav said he was among the members who opposed the sudden induction of two more members Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Mahendra Yadav. Yadav said today’s meeting was postponed after some members told the committee that the issue should be discussed among party’s top leaders.

The party had formed the committee with the consent of all the big leaders but two more members were added to the committee without the consent of other senior leaders of the party, said Yadav.

The committee is mandated to give instruction for resolution of disputes in the youth wing of the NC whose election is scheduled to be held in Pokhara on September 9-11. Tarun Dal has disputes in over two dozen districts.
