Paragliding to be introduced in Baitadi
Baitadi, October 23
The first-ever commercial paragliding venture in far-western Nepal is set to be introduced in Baitadi during Tihar.
After an assessment by a team of experts, the adventure sport involving lightweight glider aircraft is set to begin at the Patan area of Baitadi. The venture was set to start two months ago during the far-western region’s prime festival Gaura Parva, but was postponed due to technical reasons.
A team led by an Indian national Dharam Chand from Himachal Pradesh, India had been scouring Nepal’s far-west to locate spots favourable for paragliding since 2011.
The team had set its eyes on Patan of Baitadi after a thorough study perusal of the rugged terrain in the region.
The team has declared four spots in Patan as favourable for paragliding — Daha Danda at Patan Municipality-12, Jaraula Danda at Patan-2, Annadi Danda at Patan-13, and Hurhure Danda.
