Paramour behind Saptari woman's September murder in Balkumari
KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, on Tuesday paraded a man who it said murdered his girlfriend and dumped her body in a pond in Balkumari of Lalitpur in September.
Shobhita Khadka (Yadav), a permanent resident of Saptari district, had gone missing on September 21 and her decomposing body was found in Guipokhari on November 28.
Police identified the suspected murderer as her paramour, Raju Mohammad of Rautahat district. He was currently residing in Balkumari.
Both of them had come closer when they worked at the Heritage Fashion Garment Udyog in Balkumari. Mohammad had allegedly impregnated the woman whose husband was abroad for foreign employment. They, however, had used some undisclosed medication to abort the foetus, police said, referring to preliminary investigation.
Mohammad resorted to killing Khadka in September after she demanded Rs 5,00,000 from him, according to police.
Khadka had allegedly threatened the paramour of telling her husband, who planned to return to Nepal for a vacation, about her affair with him (Mohammad) and seeking legal action if he failed to provide her with the amount.
Mohammad invited the woman to Guipokhari on the pretext of giving her the money in the evening of September 21, according police. He used a knife to throttle her and fled throwing the body in the pond.
He was arrested yesterday and further investigation is underway, police said.
