Parliament adjourned till May 4
KATHMANDU: After a brief sitting on Friday, the Parliament meeting has been adjourned till May 4.
Lawmakers of several parties yesterday registered 50 different proposal, seeking revision of several provisions in the Constitution Amendment Bill that the government has tabled at the Parliament Secretariat. The House, however, would not begin deliberation on the proposals before May 4.
Meanwhile, the deadline to file candidacy in local level elections, scheduled for May 14, in Province No. 3,4 and 6 is ending on May 2.
After an agreement with the Rastriya Janata Party, which was formed after merger of six Madhesi Parties, and the Federal Socialist Forum Nepal, the government had decided to revise the Constitution Amendment Bill in order to increase the number of local levels in 11 districts in Tarai and hold elections in Province No. 1, 2, 5 and 7 in the second phase on June 14.
Today's House endorsed the condolence motion on former Nepali Congress lawmaker Nathuni Singh Danuwar before adjourning for four days.
The House will meet at 3 pm on Thursday.
