Partial effects of Gandaki Bandh felt in Pokhara

POKHARA: Partial effects of the Gandaki Province bandh called by Tamuwan-Magarat Struggle Committee and Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities is seen in Pokhara on Monday morning.

The bandh was called demanding to rename Gandaki Province as Tamuwan-Magarat Province.

Although few public vehicles are seen plying the road, the majority of them are not operational. The bandh has also affected educational institutions.

Despite the rain since the morning, activists from the struggle committee have been active in various road junctions to make the protest successful. However, the bandh has been peaceful so far, informed Rabindra Man Gurung, Spokesperson of Kaski Police.

Earlier, Provincial Assembly meeting had passed the proposal to name Province 4 as Gandaki Province by a two-thirds majority.
