Parties pick nominees in Kaski

Political parties and their candidates visited the District Election Office, Kaski. to file their nominations for the May 14 civic polls with a lot of gusto today.
Candidates for mayor and deputy mayor of Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City and for chairmanship of the 33 wards and other members. reached the election office with party flags and election symbols to register their nominations in the district. Majority of candidates for the post of mayor of Pokhara pledged to make it a well-managed city, preserve the lakes, expedite the construction of Pokhara regional international airport and promote tourism.
Ramji Kuwar, who registered his nomination for mayor from Nepali Congress, said, “I will preserve Phewa Lake, manage Ring Road, and Bus Park, and promote tourism with greenery.”
Man Bahadur GC, who filed his nomination for the post of mayor from CPN-UML, said that he would work for good governance and hold every civil servant accountable for service to the people.
Biswo Prakash Lamichhane of the CPN-Maoist Centre, after registering his nomination pledged to develop Pokhara into a metro city. He vowed to modernise agriculture, connect it with the ring road and make it a prosperous city.
Gita Gurung, who registered her nomination from Rastriya Prajatantra Party for the post of mayor, said she would work to develop Pokhara as a beautiful city. Candidates of some fringe parties and independents also pledged to develop Pokhara as a prosperous city.
