Parties’ preparations for election in final stage

Ramechhap, November 21

Poll preparations of political forces contesting the forthcoming provincial and parliamentary elections in Ramechhap have reached the final stage.

Nepali Congress, which began its campaigning almost a month ago, said its poll preparation was almost over. The candidates had reached almost all parts of the district and canvassed. “We are planning to revisit some special areas before zero hour begins,” said NC leader Arjun KC.

UML leader and left alliance candidate of province ‘kha’ Kailash Dhungel said their election publicity campaign was in its final leg. Likewise, CPN-Maoist Centre leaders also said their campaigning had reached the final stage. CPN-MC’s parliamentary candidate and Minister without portfolio Shyam Kumar Shrestha said he had completed canvassing at the doorsteps of most voters.

Meanwhile, as different forces were preparing for elections, District Administration Office declared Bethan of Sunapati Rural Municipality a riot-hit area banning poll campaigning for the left alliance.

Apprehensive of a tussle between leftist and democratic forces, the district security committee directed the concerned to halt their programme. Bethan was the same venue where Nepali Congress cadres were scheduled to conduct election campaigning
