Passengers recall Chitwan bus mishap
Chitwan, February 27:
“The bus was skidding off the road. I caught an iron rod tightly. It fell on the banks of the Trishuli river. I managed to save myself. All other passengers were restless when I looked at them with the help of the torch light in my mobile set. Most of them were speaking Hindi,” recalled Santosh Tamang, 25, who was in the ill-fated bus that met with an accident at Darechowk VDC on Prithvi highway last night, killing 15 people.
“After the mishap I managed to come out of the bus and reached the highway alone. I caught a vehicle and reached the nearby Armed Police Base Camp. I returned to the site with a police team,” said Tamang, a permanent resident of Tikauli in Ratnanagar-7.
Another injured person, Abdul Khalin, said: “I am a worker at Kohinoor Tailors in Kathmandu.” He said most of the passengers of the bus were Indian nationals, including himself.
