Paudel to file candidacy for Nepali Congress PP leadership

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel has decided to file candidacy for the post of parliamentary party (PP) leader in the upcoming PP elections.

The PP elections are scheduled for April 6.

According to NC central committee member, Dilendra Peasad Badu, a gathering of leaders close to Paudel on Sunday decided to field Paudel as the candidate to the post of PP leader.

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba had already announced his candidacy to the post. The election is taking place for the post that remains vacant after the death of former NC President, Sushil Koirala.

A three-member election committee has been formed under the coordination of central committee member Ramesh Rijal.

The party has called separate meetings of parliamentary party and of central committee on Monday to amend the party's parliamentary party statute in line with the new constitution.
