MAHENDRANAGAR: A person died on the spot after being hit by a tipper at Sapahi along the Janakpur–Dhalkebar road in Dhanusa district on Saturday morning.

The deceased has been identified as a local Baijanath Saha (55) of Sapahi.

The incident occurred after Saha was knocked down by the tipper (Na 7 Kha 2263) while he was crossing road at around 5:00 am this morning, according to Inspector Naresh Singh of the Mahendranagar-based  Area Police Office.

The Mujeliya Ward Police Office has impounded the four-wheeler and detained its driver for further investigation.

Meanwhile, locals have obstructed the road protesting the incident.
