KATHMANDU: A pedestrian was fatally hit by a passenger bus in Kankai Municipality-3 in Jhapa of eastern Nepal on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Gangaram BK, a local resident. He was knocked down by the bus with registration number Na 4 Kha 9999 while he was crossing the East-West Highway on foot.

Critically injured in the incident, BK was rushed to the Birtamod-based B&C Hospital, where he breathed his last during the course of treatment, police said.

Police have taken the bus and its driver in their custody for investigation.
