BAJURA, OCTOBER 17
Pema Gyalwo Gurung's family received support after The Himalayan Times published a news story about Pema fighting for his life due to lack of funds and his two daughters' plight at Bauli of Badimalika Municipality, Bajura.
Following the coverage on THT, Shanti Sewa Griha Kathmandu, Samrat Singh Basnet, Sangam Kshetri, Amrit Dhungana and Andrea Drewer provided Pema's family with rice, salt, cooking oil, clothes and stationery.
Ward No 8 Chair Prakash Rawal said the succour had given great relief to Pema's family.
Rawal has urged all to help Pema for his treatment. Pema is suffering from paralysis and tuberculosis, and has been left in the lurch for want of money for the past seven months.
Pema cannot walk and needs support to even answer nature's call. His wife Dawa Gurung fell to death last year. With their mother's death, the two daughters have been left high and dry.
Pema's daughter Karu complained that financial crunch had hit them hard and prevented them from attending school.
