People’s residence programme to kick off in Saptari

Rajbiraj, June 29

Following agreement between Saptari lawmakers, people’s residence programme is set to begin in the district as the current fiscal year comes to an end.

The programme had failed to kick off after lawmakers of CPN Maoist Centre protested the plans made by People’s Residence Programme District Coordination Committee, led by NC lawmaker Surendra Prasad Yadav for 2015/16.

Building Residence and Urban Development Office, Rajbiraj Chief Milan Acharya said the programme was set to begin after the lawmakers from different parties agreed to build the residences in all constituencies from the next fiscal and accord priority to constituencies not included in the previous and current fiscal years.

Saptari constituency-2 lawmaker Ashok Kumar Mandal said his party had protested the erstwhile plans as constituency Nos 1,2 and 3 won by the Maoist Centre were not included in the previous plans. Mandal said his party would always fight for the poor people and all constituencies should have people’s residence programme.

A decision has been made to construct as many as 130 residences for Dalit families within this fiscal. As per the decision, 10 houses each will be built at Bodebarasain, Haripur, Madhupattita, Malahanama, Boriya and Banaul. As many as 20, 40 and 10 houses will be built at Fulkahi VDC, Kabilasha and Sambhunath VDCs, respectively.
