DHANGADHI: Police in Kanchanpur district made public a person arrested for reportedly killing an elderly woman and snatching her gold jewellery.

The arrestee has been identified as Dal Bahadur BK, who appears to be in his late 40s, of Punarbas Municipality-1 in the district.

BK, a former cadre of CPN Maoist Centre, allegedly killed his neighbour Khanti Bhul (71) and took her gold jewellery on December 27.

In a press conference organised at Kanchanpur District Police Office (DPO), police displayed the jewellery and a weapon used in the murder of the senior citizen. A few rounds of cartridges have also been seized from the arrestee's possession.

Injury marks on the woman's head and face shows that she was killed using a sharp weapon, police informed.

It has been learnt that Bhul had been living alone at home as her son works in India's Mumbai city while her daughter-in-law and grandchildren have been living in Dhangadhi Sub-metropolis.

Family sources informed that the senior citizen had around three tola of gold jewellery on her.
