PANCHTHAR: Police in Panchthar district reportedly arrested a person for hacking his own relative to death with an axe, in Sabrang of Phidim Municipality-1 on Friday Morning.

The deceased has been identified as local Bhim Bahadur Kerung (64) and the murder suspect as Binay Nembang (28) aka Chandre.

Nembang was detained in connection with the murder of his relative Kerung today, according to the Panchthar District Police Office.

The preliminary investigation points to a dispute over land as the motivation behind the murder, said the Deputy Superintendent of Police Nakul Pokhrel.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been kept in the District Hospital for the postmortem, said police
