Photo exhibition on disappeared people

Kathmandu, September 8:

The Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) and International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) organised a photo exhibition on people disappeared during the decade-long armed conflict and the people’s movement of 2006, at Basantapur today.

Altogether 35 pictures of missing persons and their families were exhibited with captions on their situations. During the exhibition some new complaints of missing persons were also filed.

According to Sangha Ratna Shakya, general secretary of NRCS Kathmandu, the exhibition was meant to aware people of missing persons and the plight of their families. He added the exhibition would help in ascertaining the number of missing persons and their whereabouts.

According to ICRC, a total of 1,227 persons are reported missing during the conflict. The NRCS stated that over 2,000 people visited the exhibition today and it would be organised in Patan Durbar Square tomorrow.
