KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 10
Phulpati, the seventh day of Bada Dashain, is being celebrated today by Hindu devotees across the country.
Traditionally, the Phulpati procession involves banana stalks, jamara, belpatra (wood apple leaves), and sugarcane sticks tied with red cloth, accompanied by a Kalash filled with holy water. These items are carried from Gorkha to Hanumandhoka on a decorated palanquin.
The Nepali Army holds a parade at Tundikhel to mark the occasion, which includes a gun salute observed by the president and other government officials.
This year, Mahaashtami and Mahanawami will be observed together tomorrow, followed by Vijaya Dashami, the main day of Dashain, on October 12. The auspicious time for Dashain tika has been set for 11:36 AM on October 12 (Asoj 26).
