Plan afoot to build adventure park in Dharan

ITAHARI, JANUARY 18

Tourism entrepreneurs of Dharan are building what they call the ‘first adventure park’ in Nepal. The construction was inaugurated on the occasion of Dashain on 26 October 2020.

The park in Dharan covers an area of 3.5 bigha. It is estimated to cost Rs 100 million.

The park will have multiple adventure activities on the same premises, said Basudev Baral, the cooperator of Sechha Adventures and Holidays that is running the park project.

“The park will have 200-metre-long zip-line, 150-metre-long sky cycling, few handing bridges, a Five-feet-tall glass bridge and the likes,’’ informed Baral.

He added, “zip-line, sky cycling and bridge packages will be commercially operational within a couple of months.’’ According to Alina Magar, another cooperator, the project will be accomplished within three years which includes jungle resort, children’s park, and swimming pool, among other facilities.

Located at Kalimati of Dharan Sub-metropolitan City, the under-construction park is 3.9 kilometre away from Zero Point of Dharan and can be reached after driving for 10 minutes.

Of late, Dharan has been a preferred destination for adventure sports.

Last year since March 7, Dharan hosted first zip-flyer in Province 1.

The 650-metre-long zip-flyer was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Province 1 Sherdhan Rai.

Besides the newly-operated zip-flyer and under-construction adventure park, Dharan, has operated commercial adventure sports such as paragliding, rafting and mountain biking.
