KATHMANDU, MARCH 26

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has instructed the National Planning Commission (NPC) to devise new schemes aimed at increasing production and generating employment in the country.

During a meeting with the newly appointed members of the NPC at his office in Singha Durbar today, he emphasized that addressing the issues of low production and employment should be done in a planned manner as they are major problems facing the country.

Prime Minister Dahal stated, "I am confident that the Commission will enhance the effectiveness of its role as a think tank of the government."

Additionally, he instructed the NPC office-bearers to focus on evidence-based policymaking by strengthening the statistical system.

Expressing his belief that the new office-bearers would help create momentum in the implementation of plans, study-research, and development-construction projects, the Prime Minister directed the NPC to proceed with the finalization of the 16th plan and assist in incorporating strategies and programs proposed in the plan into the next financial year's budget.

Present during the meeting were NPC Vice Chair Dr. Meen Bahadur Shrestha and the newly appointed members of the Commission.
