PM declines to meet dalit team
RAUTAHAT: The dalits of Wards 1 and 2 of Gaur Municipality, who had harboured hopes that the Prime Minister of their district would solve their long-persisting problems, have been completely dejected as PM Madhav Kumar Nepal declined to meet them during their recent visit to the Capital.
A six-member delegation headed by Ramdev Prasad Jaisawal of Ward-2 that reached Kathmandu on August 4 after borrowing money could not meet the PM.
"We were asked to come to Singha Durbar when we reached Baluwatar, and vice versa," said Paspatiya Mestarani, a team member. "Finally, we got pass to enter Singha Durbar after calling the PM three times. But, the PM's advisor Kalayani Khadka told us that he (PM) was busy in meeting and asked us to come the next day."
But the poverty-stricken dalits, after spending the loan, had returned with heavy heart. However, they submitted a memorandum via the Khadka. Gaur Municipality-3 is the ancestral place of PM Nepal.
"Our own PM didn't manage time to listen to our grievances," said Miradevi Musaharani. "What can we expect from other PM from other places?"
