KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 12
Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Thursday reviewed election preparations and security arrangements in Solukhumbu district.
During her visit, she held discussions with government officials and local representatives in Namche and Salleri.
Chief Returning Officer in Salleri, Chandra Kumar Pokharel; Chief District Officer Leela Kumari KC; Lieutenant Colonel Bijay Prakash Angdambe; DSP Manoj Kunwar; DSP (Armed Police Force) Suraj Pandey; and other local representatives attended the meeting.
Chief Returning Officer Pokharel and CDO KC briefed the Prime Minister on the progress of election preparations, while security chiefs informed her that there were no security threats or adverse weather risks anticipated in the district.
Expressing satisfaction with the preparations made so far, Prime Minister Karki underscored the historic significance of the upcoming polls. "This election carries historic importance. We are at a critical juncture and must fulfil our responsibilities successfully," she said, reiterating that the election would be held nationwide in a single phase on the scheduled date of March 5.
The Prime Minister had conducted a similar inspection visit to Bhojpur earlier, where she also received updates from security officials.
