PM Koirala urges CA member Paswan to break his hunger strike
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Sunday urged Constituent Assembly member Biswendra Paswan to break his hunger strike.
In a letter to Paswan, who is also the president of the Bahujan Shakti Party Nepal, PM Koirala has stated that since his demands have been addressed in the Revised Bill of the Constitution of Nepal, 2072 and that other outstanding issues could be settled after the promulgation of constitution, Paswan should end his fast-unto-death that he has launched, said Prakash Adhikati, the PM’s press coordinator.
“I have addressed the issues you have raised in today’s meeting of the CA, and the CPN-UML and UCPN -Maoist too have expressed their commitment to that. So, I urge you to withdraw your protest programmes including the hunger strike,” the Prime Minister stated in the letter.
Paswan is on hunger strike at Baneshwar since the last six days putting forth demands including incorporating the rights of the backward communities in the new constitution.
