PM Nepal, Koirala meet

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal today conferred with Nepali Congress president and former PM Girija Prasad Koirala at the latter's residence in Maharajgunj on a number of pertinent issues.

Bishnu Rijal, PM's press advisor, told this daily that the duo discussed the premier's upcoming visit to India, deadlock in the House caused by the Maoist disruption and deteriorating relation with the main opposition UCPN-Maoist.

Rijal said the discussion also focussed on bringing in Indian investment, trade treaty between the two countries and scrapping the provision of double taxation on imported or exported goods.

He said the issue of double taxation had been sorted out by the foreign secretaries of the two countries and might be endorsed during the PM's visit to the southern neighbour.
