PM Oli directs Nepal Telecom officials to improve service

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed the officials of the Nepal Telecom (NT) to make the company's services systematic, effective and customer-friendly with quality.

After receiving information on the progress report of NT at the Prime Minister's office on Friday, the PM directed officials to keep the services on priority. The wrong trends existing in NT should end and people should get quality services, the PM said.

PM Oli also asked the NT officials to deploy human resources in its technical section round the clock and not to keep such section without officials. On the occasion, PM Oli said that NT was established for public service, not only for profit making.

PM Oli also expressed his displeasure towards the ongoing works on optical fibre. "Complaints have poured in about optical fiber. It would be better to control it at this point. We will discuss the ways to move ahead after inquiring more about it," the PM said.

Likewise, the PM directed the officials of NT to compete in the market by improving its services adding that signs of company's poor performance are seen.

During the discussions, PM's Chief Advisor Bishnu Rimal, State Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Banskota, Managing Director of NT Kamini Rajbhandari and others were present.
