PM hopeful of UDMF participation in local level polls

BIRATNAGAR: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said he was still hopeful that the United Democratic Madhesi Front would also participate in local level elections.

Talking to mediapersons at the Biratnagar Airport today, PM Dahal said he was hopeful that discussions with the Front would bring some positive results.

Prime Minister Dahal said the UDMF would participate in the polls after the number of local units would be increased. He added a ministerial task force formed to revise the Local Bodies Restructuring Commission would submit its report and the number of local bodies in Tarai would be increased today.

The Prime Minister, meanwhile, said the Constitution amendment was not needed for local polls.

Responding to a query of mediapersons, the Prime Minister made it clear that the incumbent government would hold the local polls.

He added that the incumbent government was serious about resolving problems in the Tarai region.

PM Dahal shared that he was working to get the amendment bill passed after holding discussions with other parties after revising it rather than going for voting immediately.

He committed to managing security for the campaign from the government's side.
