Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN-Maoist Centre Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that a socialist front will be created within a few days which will pave the way of communist unity.
Addressing a programme organised to mark the establishment of communist party in Nepal, Dahal said that efforts should continue to unite the communist forces on the basis of right ideologies and policies. The communist movement should be united according to the needs of the nation and people, he added. He urged the communist forces to discuss communist unity without bias and prejudice against anybody.
The PM said he was making efforts to unite communist forces. Those who are against the principle of people's centralism are not in favour of communist unity. We are still on the side of unity the PM added.
"We can be truly committed to the communist movement only if we can achieve unity," the PM said and added, "Now we are discussing from where to start the communist party. The PM said that those communist forces that felt the need to address the needs of the country, people's livelihood, development, and the fight against compradors should unite to give positive message.
The PM said that in the communist party, leadership played a key role. If the leadership adopted wrong policies, that could cause great loss and even increase the risk of counter revolution.
"We have seen this in the international communist movement and even in our country," PM Dahal said. His remarks were aimed at CPN- UML Chair KP Sharma Oli who he had blamed for the disintegrating Nepal Communist Party (NCP).
Power rivalry between him and Oli had led to intraparty feud that culminated in the split of the NCP (NCP).
Dahal said he had taken the initiative to unite the communist forces ahead of the 2017 general elections, which was a forward-looking progress.
'Communists need to unite to protect independence, national unity, ensure people's livelihood, social justice and to spur development' he said. The PM said that communists needed to unite also to strengthen democracy and the republican order.
In recent months, Dahal and CPN (Unified Socialist) Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal have held talks to create a unified party or socialist front, but the talks have not yielded any concrete results yet.
