PM’s India visit successful in boosting bilateral relations: UML SC
Kathmandu, March 7
A meeting of the Standing Committee of the ruling CPN-UML held that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s recent India visit had succeeded in removing perception in India about Nepal’s constitution and misunderstandings that cropped up in bilateral relations recently.
According to a press release issued by UML Secretary Pradip Gyawali, the SC held that PM Oli’s visit was successful in taking Nepal’s relations with India to a new height.
The meeting also directed the prime minister to make his upcoming China visit result-oriented and a successful event by exploring the possibility of entering a transit treaty with China, importing petroleum products and seeking assistance from China for development of energy infrastructure so as to end Nepal’s dependence on foreign countries.
The UML also said that the current government had successfully tackled problems of the country without compromising national interest and resolved the basic problems of the Madhes, according to the release.
The meeting also urged the government to control artificial shortage of essential goods, black-marketing and to make solid preparations for the local polls. It also urged the government to effectively carry out development and reconstruction works.
The Standing Committee of the UML also concluded that the party’s programmes that were run under the theme of ‘The implementation of the constitution and consolidation of national unity,” had succeeded as those programmes had removed misconceptions about the new constitution.
Addressing the programme, party Chair and PM KP Sharma Oli thanked party leaders for supporting the government. He said that a united UML could counter the challenged facing the country.
