PM’s India visit will improve bilateral ties, says Minister Kharel

Bhaktapur, February 12

Minister for Law and Justice Agni Kharel said today that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s upcoming India visit beginning from February 19 would focus on improving bilateral relations between the two countries.

Speaking at the 12th anniversary of Shankhadhar Memorial School at Anantalingeswor Municipality of Bhaktapur, Minister Kharel said the Prime Minister’s India visit would remove the misunderstandings between the two countries.

“We had done nothing to affect our bilateral relations with India. But as the misunderstandings have now been removed, we should move ahead together, said Minister Kharel.

Stressing that Nepal would not allow any activities that would pose security threats to our neighbouring countries, he said the Prime Minister would also seek Indian investment in infrastructure projects during his visit.

Prime Minister Oli would also visit China after his India trip, he said, adding the major agendas during his China trip would be transportation, supply management and market diversification.

Stating that the government was holding talks with the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front to settle the dispute over provincial boundaries, he claimed that a solution to the issue would be found out soon.

Also speaking on the occasion, former minister Mahesh Basnet said the Indian blockade has been lifted without the Oli-led government making any compromises on issues of national interest.
