PM's party gives green signal to deal with Federal Alliance

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal party, CPN Maoist Centre, on Sunday endorsed the agreement that the government made with agitating Federal Alliance to pass the constitution amendment bill with some revision and hold the local level elections in two phases.

It also decided to take a an initiative for the agreement's implementation. Prime Minsiter Dahal later held consultations with the top officials of Election Commission of Nepal on holding the local level elections in four provinces that touch Tarai-Madhes region in the second phase.

Dahal had called a meeting of the office bearers of party headquarters at his official residence in Baluwatar and briefed them about the negotiations that he made with the Madhesi parties.

Expressing his happiness over the new development, Dahal said it was matter of joy that a conducive environment has been built for all political parties to take part in the elections, according to a statement issued by the PM' Secretariat.

He further directed the party leaders to focus on the elections now.

The agreement will be endorsed by the Cabinet today.
