Pokhara sexual-assault victim's last rites performed
KASKI: The body of the victim of recent case of sexual assault and murder has been cremated today in Pokhara. The 10-year-old’s last rites were performed after her family finally claimed her body upon the police administration’s assurance that the perpetrator will be brought to books.
The girl’s aunt Kalpana Rasaili told THT that since the culprit has admitted to his crimes before the law enforcement officials, the family is hopeful that the court will determine an appropriate sentence as a punishment for the guilty. “Her last rites were performed after a tribute ceremony on Wednesday,” said Rasaili.
The girl’s body was kept at Pokhara Health Science Academy after conducting a post-mortem.
The victim who had gone missing on September 24 evening was discovered lifeless the next morning at a rivulet. Her neighbour, 27-year-old Kusum Paudel was arrested on September 25 from his home. He has confessed to his crimes.
