Kathmandu, May 30:
A former minister’s wife has filed a habeas corpus at the Supreme Court seeking its order to the government authorities to release her husband, a member of the Sher Bahadur Deuba government and standing committee member of the CPN-UML. Ishwor Pokhrel’s wife Meera today filed the petition for the second time. She claimed the government authorities had detained Pokhrel in defiance of the SC’s order passed on May 13 to release him. Pokhrel is under preventive detention on charges of posing a threat to public peace and security under the Public Peace and Security Act, 1989. A bench of Justices Ram Nagina Singh and Khil Raj Regmi had ordered Pokhrel’s release.
