Pokhara, April 15:

Police today mounted a baton charge when hundreds of locals of Lahachowk VDC in Kaski gheraoed Kaski district police office.

They were demanding that murderers of Rajeshwor Poudel — a staffer and also a student of Prithvi Narayan campus in Pokhara who was murdered after his abduction — be apprehended and brought to justice. Six persons were hurt in the baton charge, said a student leader Yog Raj Lamichhane.

Poudel’s relatives and locals shouted slogans outside the main gate of the DPO. When demonstrators tried to break into the DPO, police mounted a baton charge. When demonstrators began battering the main gate of the DPO, saying that the police mounted the baton charge without reason, Kaski SP Ramesh Kumar Bhattarai assured them of hunting down Poudel’s murderers.

A group abducted Poudel on Thursday from Bindhyabasini and threw his body into Begnas Lake after killing him. Locals informed police about his murder

on Friday.
