Kolkata-bound "drug mule" held with 5 kg hashish in Birgunj
BIRGUNJ: An Indian man involved in cross-border drug smuggling has been arrested in possession of 5 kg hashish from Birgunj of Parsa district, bordering India, on Tuesday morning.
A team of Armed Police Force apprehended Sheikh Saddam, who apparently was heading to Kolkata from Nepal, after finding out the contraband in his bag, according to Rastriya Samachar Samiti. He had arrived in the border city from Kathmandu, according SP Sushil Subedi of APF.
Sheikh told the security agency that he was a drug mule and was ferrying the consignment from Nepal to India for IRs 10,000. According to him, a contact in Kathmandu had promised him to pay the amount after delivering the consignment.
The APF handed over the supsect and the seized contraband to the Nepal Police for further investigation and action.
