Police constable remanded to five days in custody

Chitwan District Court remanded police constable Thakur Dhakal, who was arrested over the death of a Nepali Army soldier while in police custody, to five-day custody.
Nepali Army soldier Ram Kandel, 28, who was in police custody at Phisling-based temporary police post in Chitwan’s Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-1, died under mysterious circumstances yesterday.
Though the police have claimed that the death was an accident during his attempt to flee from police custody, the victim’s family has accused the police of thrashing him to death.
According to Chitwan District Police Office DSP Ek Narayan Koirala, a murder case has been filed against police Constable Dhakal.
