Police destroy cannabis cultivated in 177 ropani land in Udayapur

UDAYAPUR: Police have destroyed 31,435 cannabis plants in Belaka Municipality-7 of Udayapur district in the past two days.

Police have been destroying illegal cannabis cultivation every year under a special campaign for 12 years.

According to information officer Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ved Prasad Gautam at Udayapur District Police Office (DPO), 29,905 cannabis plants were cultivated in 177 ropani of land at various places in Rampur and Tapli areas.

Moreover, police destroyed 1,540 plants from Iname in Tapli Rural Municipality's ward no. 3 and Madale in ward no. 5 cannabis.

Cannabis plants have been cultivated near Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve in the southern part of Belaka.

Police had also destroyed the illegal crops in the lower region of Belaka last year.

The cultivation of cannabis has not stopped despite the fact that police have been destroying the crops every year.

It has been reported that cannabis, being easier to cultivate, also generates good income.
