Police destroy cannabis plants in Siraha

LAHAN: Police have destroyed 2,000 plus cannabis plants in different parts of Siraha district in the recent days.

A team of police personnel deployed from the Area Police Office Golbazar destroyed some 800 cannabis plants planted by locals at Durgapur VDC-4.

Likewise, police destroyed more than 900 cannabis plants in Golbazar Municipality-8 on Wednesday evening.

The District Police Office has launched the campaign after the increased cannabis farming by the farmers in the district, taking advantages of ongoing strike in the Tarai region and police concentration along the highways.

It is reported that cannabis farming is being done in Kalyanpur, Maheshpur Patari, Asanpur, Golbazar, Chandralalpur, Muksar, Govindapur, Sonamati and other areas of Siraha.
