KATHMANDU, MAY 6
A joint police team from the Lumbini Province Police Office, Dang, and local authorities conducted a surprise inspection of Royal Kalinga Casino in Siddharthanagar Municipality, Rupandehi, at around 8:00 pm on May 5, arresting 21 Nepali nationals found gambling on the premises.
Under Nepali law, citizens are prohibited from gambling at casinos, which are legally permitted to operate only for foreign nationals. Police seized Nepali currency totalling Rs 95,500, 19 mobile phones belonging to various brands, and 50 casino coins from those arrested.
Investigation is ongoing, with casino management also brought under the scope of the inquiry, Rupandehi police said.
Among those caught gambling, four were found operating the games. Those arrested are from multiple districts including Rupandehi, Kathmandu, Palpa, Gulmi, Lalitpur, Parsa, and Nawalparasi.
