UDAYAPUR, NOVEMBER 6

Police have seized 2,820.5 kilograms of marijuana hidden in a field in Udayapur, one of the largest recent drug recoveries in the district, and launched an investigation to identify those behind the consignment.

The marijuana was discovered in 85 sacks at Tilitle in Belaka Municipality-7 on Thursday morning following a special tip-off, according to police.

A team from the Area Police Office in Rampur recovered the contraband at around 10am during a search operation, said Superintendent of Police Rajan Chapagain.

Police said no suspects were found at the site, and authorities have yet to determine who stored the marijuana in the field. Investigators suspect the consignment had been hidden there for transportation or smuggling purposes.

The seized marijuana has been taken into police custody and stored at the Area Police Office in Rampur while the investigation continues.

The latest recovery comes only days after police seized a truck carrying marijuana in the same area, highlighting ongoing concerns about illegal narcotics trafficking routes through the district.
