KATHMANDU, MAY 10
Police arrested seven individuals in possession of 335 kg of illegal substance marijuana along with Rs 752,525 in cash in Bardanda of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-20, Sunsari district on Thursday night.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mandip Rai (20), Man Kumar Rai (28), Ram Kumar Rai (24), Tham Bahadur Rai (35), Deuman Rai (25), and a 16-year-old youth, all residents of Sanghurgadi Rural Municipality-10 in Dhakuta district, along with Ajit Rai (25) from Mangtewa, Sankhuwasabha.
A team of police from the Area Police Office, Dharan stopped two pickup vehicles bearing registration numbers Ko 1 Ja 1821 and Ko 2 Cha 3110, which were en route to Dharan from Dhakuta, for a routine security checking. During the inspection, the police discovered the substantial quantity of marijuana and cash concealed within the vehicles.
Additionally, two motorcycles with registration numbers Ko 31 Pa 6037 and Ko 30 Pa 9092, utilized by the group, were also seized for investigation.
Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, police informed.
