Police teams in rural areas in bid to control careless driving

Bara District Police Office has deployed a team including police personnel in the villages with the aim of controlling haphazard driving in rural areas of the district.

The team has started security checks in the main chowks of rural areas.

DSP Ranjit Singh Rathaur in District Police Office said the team had launched an awareness campaign in the villages after road accidents occurred frequently due to negligent driving. The road accidents increased in village roads as vehicles were driven under the influence of alcohol, he added. He said they had launched the awareness campaign to prevent possible road accidents in the rural areas.

Traffic Police Post, Kalaiya has taken action against 21 drivers under this campaign in three places. The team has collected revenue of  Rs 10,000 during security checking at Badharwa and Jautapur of Jitpur Simara sub-metropolis and Matiarwa of Kalaiya sub-metropolis.

Temporary Traffic Police Post in Kalaiya said the team had also charged as many as 13 bike riders who were caught riding the bike without helmet.
