Poll date a ploy to prolong govt’s life, says Naya Shakti’s Bhattarai

Rukum, February 26

Naya Shakti Party Nepal Coordinator Baburam Bhattarai today accused the government of announcing the date for local level polls just to prolong its stay at the helm.

Speaking at a press meet organised by the Federation of Nepali Journalists Rukum chapter in Musikot, Khalanga, of Rukum today, Bhattarai expressed doubt regarding the election as it was made public without addressing the concerns of the agitating madhes-centric forces. “The announcement of local level polls is just a ploy to prolong the life of the government,” argued Bhattarai.

“Even if the election is held forcefully, it can’t yield any fruit because it is impossible for the government to hold elections of all three tiers within a year, which is impossible. Naya Shakti is the only party that can relieve the country from all the problems it faces.”

Meanwhile, speaking at the western region Rukum festival, Bhattarai urged the folks of Rukum folks to support his party for economic revolution in the country. Reminiscing his long intimacy and harmony with the people of Rukum during the decade-long insurgency, he claimed that he was analysing the sentiments and wishes of the district folks from very close.
