Polls planned by mid-April: Khanal

Lumjung, October 25:

Central member of CPN-UML Jhala Nath Khanal today said that the political parties were working to hold the election to constitue-nt assembly by mid-April.

He said this at a programme organised by the CPN-UML Lumjung district unit to exchange greetings among the party cadres to mark the Vijaya Dashami at Besisahar.

“The seven political parties are working on holding the election to the constituent assembly by mid-April. Understanding has been reached on restructuring of the state for the same,” he said.

He further added that the nation may not be able to tide over the crises if the Nepali Congress and the Maoists did not give up their respective stance.

The Maoists have demanded that the country be declared republic by the parliament and that a full proportional representation system be adopted for CA polls but the Nepali Congressis against both the demands.

“Any party trying to defer the CA polls can never be a democratic party.

The sovereign people must punish and boycott such party,” he said.

UML is committed to root out feudalism from Nepali society, he said.
