KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 6

Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya on Sunday expressed confidence that the upcoming House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly elections would be held in a free, fair, and peaceful environment.

The EC ensured that voting would not be affected owing to security reasons and the situation for re-election would not arise.

"Re-election won't take place except in case of disruption caused by the natural disasters. Those contesting parties or candidates trying to influence the voting process would face action as per the laws," he said. According to the EC, it has been launching various awareness campaigns across the country. It also claimed that it was effortful to ward off misleading and fake news and information related to the election.
