Polls will end political instability: Paudel

Pokhara, July 30

Senior Nepali Congress leader Ramchandra Paudel today said provincial and parliamentary elections would give a way-out to 70 years of political instability and uncertainty.

Inaugurating BP Memorial Park on the premises of Institute of Engineering Paschimaanchal Campus in Pokhara, Paudel held that 70 years of political dispute was about to be over. He stated that end to political instability would open the doors of economic prosperity and development. “Time has come to focus on development and construction,” Paudel added.

Paudel held that establishment of federal democratic republicanism would speed up the pace of development. “The two neighbouring countries have made great strides in development and we have to follow suit,” he added.

Stating that royalists, leftist and rightists had attacked democracy, Paudel claimed that the same forces had subscribed to the principle propounded by his party. He asked the party rank and file to press the party leadership to correct its modus operandi. “Factionalism is detrimental for the party and it has to end,” Paudel argued.

Paudel said the party should run as a system. “Leaders who have sacrificed for the party should get ministerial berths,” Paudel said. He asked the party leadership and cadres to embrace the philosophy of BP Koirala. “NC cadres and leaders should cultivate the politics of principle not money and lust for power,” Paudel stated. He argued that only his party could salvage nationality, democracy and socialism. He urged the local leaders and cadres to commit to expanding the party’s organisation at the local level.
