Poultry import banned in Sankhuwasabha
Sankhuwasabha, January 26:
The supply of chicken and poultry products via Tamaphok and Baireni checkpoints has been banned in Sankhuwasabha district in the wake of bird flu outbreak in Jhapa. The district has been declared a sensitive zone for the disease.
As the checkpoints have their link with the Tarai districts, import of poultry products has been banned, Dr Pushpa Bahadur Budhathoki, chief at District Livestock Services Office, said. The ban was imposed as a preventive measure to check the spread of the disease, CDO Tulasi Prasad Gautam said.
Import of poultry products from China has also been banned.
Poultry products used to be imported from Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari and other Tarai districts.
Police inspector Dhan Prasad Siwakoti said additional policemen were deployed to enforce the ban.
