Powell Bush’s pick for Nepal
Kathmandu, April 26:
US President George W Bush has officially announced that he intends to nominate Nancy J Powell, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Nepal. Powell, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, is serving as the National Intelligence Officer for South Asia at the National Intelligence Council, stated a press release issued by the American Center in Kathmandu on Thursday.
She served as ambassador to Pakistan, Ghana and Uganda. According to a US official in Kathmandu, Powell’s name will now be under consideration of US Senate and the Senate Committee will conduct “hearing” to endorse her as the new ambassador to Nepal. Powell will be the fifth US lady resident ambassador to Nepal.
