Pregnant woman rescued using chartered flight in Bajura

BAJURA: A pregnant woman has been rescued by chartering a plane in Bajura district on Monday.

The five-month pregnant Setu Luwar (40) of Budhinanda Municipality-3 in the district was airlifted to Nepalgunj-based hospital after Kolti Primary Health Centre was unable to continue her treatment.

Social Development Ministry of Sudur-Paschim Province chartered a Sita Air aircraft due to unavailability of a scheduled flight.

Luwar had complications in her pregnancy, was suffering from hypertension and pulmonary congestion, due to which she was sent to Nepalgunj in a chartered flight under the direction of Social Development Minister Krishna Raj Subedi at a cost of Rs 200,000, informed Public Health Officer Ramesh Kunwar.

Luwar already is a mother to four children, and the complications in her pregnancy could have been brought about due to her age, health workers said.

Prior to this, the Social Development Ministry of the province had rescued two pregnant women and a general patient through helicopter charter in Bajura this fiscal year alone, according to Minister Subedi.
